Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a common neurological disorder that affects mainly middle-aged and elderly people, mostly after the age of 60. Characteristic manifestations are resting tremor, muscle rigidity, gait and postural disturbances, and bradykinesia. Motor bradykinesia includes slow onset, freezing, small gait, panic gait, reduced spontaneous movements, writing too small, difficulty rising from a sitting position, dysphonia, dysarthria, and dysphagia. General postural instability is a symptom of late onset. In the middle and late stages of the disease, non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease such as depression, constipation, sleep disturbances, and cognitive impairment may severely affect the patient’s quality of life.
