Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical value of hysteroscopy in women with no sexual history of abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods From March 2005 to February 2007, 36 women with no history of sexual intercourse who had abnormal uterine bleeding that was not treated with medication underwent hysteroscopy and diagnostic scraping or localized biopsy of suspicious areas in the uterine cavity. The operation was performed without clamping and dilating the cervix, and ultrasound monitoring was used during the operation. All 36 cases completed hysteroscopy and pathological sampling under ultrasound supervision without hymenal injury or complications such as cervical laceration and uterine perforation. Hysteroscopy combined with case diagnosis of abnormal lesions in 33 cases (92%), including endometrial polyps in 16 cases, submucosal fibroids in 4 cases, cervical polyps in 2 cases, mild endometrial atypical hyperplasia in 2 cases, complex endometrial hyperplasia in 2 cases, simple endometrial hyperplasia in 3 cases, endometritis in 2 cases, endometrial tuberculosis in 1 case, and vaginal diastasis syndrome in 1 case. Conclusion Hysteroscopy is necessary and safe for women with no sexual history of abnormal uterine bleeding who are not satisfied with the effect of drug treatment.
