Macular edema of the eye can cause blurred vision loss of vision distortion and smallness of things. Macular edema is a common clinical ophthalmic sign, and is a common fundus sign of many eye diseases. It is commonly seen in central and branch retinal vein embolism, “mid-pulp”, “mid-bleed”, age-related macular wet degeneration, retinal vasculitis, optic neuritis, diabetic retinopathy and so on. It is the accumulation of fluid between retinal cells and can be caused by changes in human metabolism. According to the report, macular edema can produce irreversible damage to the photoreceptors in the central macular recess after 3 months of continuous occurrence. Thus, the visual function of the affected eye is seriously affected. Chinese medicine’s understanding of macular edema Chinese medicine believes that edema in human body is due to the imbalance of the function of water and fluids from the internal organs, which leads to the retention of water and dampness in the body and floods the skin, thus causing swelling of the head, face, limbs, abdomen and even the whole body.
