How to remove lid xanthomas

Lid xanthomas are yellow or orange patches of skin caused by lipid deposits in the eyelid area. They occur on the eyelid and are initially as large as a grain of rice, slightly above the skin, distinct from normal skin, with irregular borders, and may even cover the entire eyelid. 1. Etiology It is a disorder of lipid metabolism. Most patients have hyperlipoproteinemia and/or hypercholesterolemia. Some scholars have found that 33% of men and 40% of women with hypercholesterolemia suffer from this disease. 2. Clinical manifestations Commonly seen in middle-aged adults. Symmetrical yellow or orange elongated plaques in the inner canthus of the upper eyelid. Although there is no discomfort, it significantly affects the beauty of the patient’s appearance. 3. Treatment Traditional treatment methods are freezing, surgery or oral Chinese medicine, but the results are not satisfactory. Our department has achieved satisfactory results by using ultra-pulsed CO2 laser treatment. This laser can instantly vaporize the target tissue in a time shorter than the heat diffusion time to the surrounding tissues, avoiding damage to the surrounding tissues. The ultra-pulsed laser system has selective photothermolysis, adjustable energy, accurate vaporization of tissues, which makes it easy to grasp the depth of operation, no crusting and clear field without bleeding, and has the advantages of safety, effectiveness and small adverse reactions. It is also important to note that people with xanthomas may have systemic atherosclerosis or hepatobiliary disease caused by impaired lipid and cholesterol metabolism. Therefore, it is best to go to the hospital to have your blood lipids checked and to have your liver, gallbladder, kidney or diabetes checked when the skin alarm signal appears, so that you can find out the hidden health problems and adjust your diet early.
