Repeat IVF – What should I do if my embryo transfer fails?

Patients with 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or even 20 failed IVF-embryo transfers are common in our clinic, they plant embryos again and again to plant hope, but face disappointment again and again, just like Chen in the TV series “Couples, Those Things”, we are faced with “making a man” every day. Patients whose plans are not going well! Infertility is already a nightmare for them, and after trying various methods but failing to get pregnant, they eventually go to a reproductive medicine center to seek help from IVF technology, which is becoming more and more mature, with a pregnancy success rate of about 40%-50%. However, even with the most advanced fertility centers, the best doctors, the most advanced technology, and the highest quality embryos, there are still many unsuccessful cases, and many patients can have one unsuccessful transfer, but can have two, two unsuccessful transfers, or three, and most patients can have three successful transfers. However, when more than 3 embryo transfers are unsuccessful, you patients should pay attention to your own problems. Don’t blame the doctors at the fertility center for not doing their job, they also want you to succeed. Because there are many reasons for unsuccessful IVF, such as: age, years of infertility, quality of eggs, quality of sperm, quality of embryos, condition of endometrium, and causes of infertility can affect. When the fertility center helps you to rule out the above factors one by one, there is actually a large part of the causes that our clinic can help you with. The following test report is from a patient of Dr. Leung Ka Hong, the “father of IVF” in Hong Kong, who recommended her to go to the hospital where I studied in the United States for the following tests because of 6 failed embryo transfers. I quickly identified the “culprit” for her and helped her rework her pre-transfer protocol. Before her, our protocol has helped many similar patients to get rid of the “nightmare” of “repeated embryo transfer failure” Image 1 Explanation: Diagnosis of Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome There are many different kinds of phospholipid antibody diagnostic kits in China, which are of different quality. The phospholipid antibody test in this picture is very comprehensive and includes many subtypes, so it is not easy to miss the diagnosis. Therefore, we are looking forward to some domestic tests to catch up with the international pace for the benefit of patients, so as to avoid missing the diagnosis and provide a basis for our treatment. How to treat? Patients diagnosed with this disease require immunosuppressive and anticoagulant therapy, a treatment that has now been agreed upon by medical experts at home and abroad. This disease is already common in our outpatient clinics. Image 2 Explanation: Diagnosis Easy embolism sign Coagulation gene and fibrinolytic system related gene polymorphism test, even the most advanced research on thrombotic diseases in China, Ruijin Hospital does not have this test, and most of the tests are only limited to scientific research and not applied to clinical diagnosis of thrombotic diseases, so many such patients are missed. How to treat? Anticoagulation therapy is available for this type of disease. This treatment is widely available abroad and in some hospitals in China, and our hospital can carry out relevant tests, treatment and medication monitoring. Currently, many patients have been able to conceive with this option. Picture 3 Explanation: Diagnosis Immunological abnormalities (inflammatory type) abnormal ratio of peripheral blood lymphocyte subpopulations, increased secretion of inflammatory cytokines, in fact, this kind of related scientific research, my brothers and sisters and brothers and sisters (including me, of course), have found such a pattern in the blood test of recurrent miscarriage population, which is not commonly used in domestic clinics, but has been successfully translated into medicine and applied in clinics in the United States. How to treat? Immunomodulatory therapy, recommended by the American Society for Reproductive Immunology, is a treatment regimen of gammaglobulin and other immunomodulators, which has been carried out in our hospital. Many patients have also been successfully treated with this regimen. In fact, some of the infertility patients in the above disease cases can become pregnant naturally during the treatment process. However, medical advances cannot solve 100% of the patients’ problems, and our clinic will continue to work on these special groups, looking forward to discovering new causes and finding new treatment options, hoping to bring their “belated babies” to every family!
