Can malignant breast cancer be cured with surgery?

Many patients with breast cancer can be cured after surgery. Overall, breast cancer is divided into four stages. Stage IV is the advanced stage, where surgical treatment is relatively less effective. In case of stage I to III patients, the breast can be treated surgically by complete removal of the breast. Depending on the condition of the axillary lymph nodes, if there is metastasis, lymph node dissection is required. If there is no metastasis, lymph node dissection may be unnecessary for the time being. After surgery, depending on the type of pathology, the next step of treatment is decided, such as chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, targeted therapy, etc. For stage I or II patients, the 5-year survival rate is basically 90% or more. For stage III patients, they can basically reach about 80%. Therefore, the vast majority of patients can be cured after surgery, but they should come to the hospital for regular review.
