At present, there is no effective way to improve the protruding eyeball by oneself, and drug treatment, radiotherapy and surgery are often needed according to the cause of the protruding eyeball.
Normal eyeball protrusion outside the orbit is about 12-14mm on average, and more than 21mm is considered pathologic eyeball protrusion.
1. Eyeball protrusion caused by high myopia is often caused by the growth of eye axis, which is difficult to improve. It is difficult to improve the condition. You can prevent and control the growth of myopia by wearing glasses of appropriate prescription, or adopting methods such as dilating eye drops such as 0.01% atropine drops, wearing keratoplasty lenses, or wearing out-of-focus glasses to delay the symptoms of protruding eyeballs.
2. Proptosis caused by hyperthyroidism often requires treatment of the primary disease, e.g., by drugs such as prothioxythiophene, imidazole formamide, and iodine 131. Local injection of glucocorticoid drugs such as trimethoprim injection or periorbital decompression can be performed to improve the symptoms of protruding eyes.
3. Eye protrusion caused by orbital swelling often requires radiotherapy, surgical resection and other methods of treatment.
