What is good for bowel cancer patients to eat after surgery

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in clinical practice today, and surgery is the main treatment method. The diet after colorectal cancer surgery is always a concern for patients and their families and is the most frequently asked question by our doctors. Generally speaking, patients can eat liquid food only after their anus is exhausted on their own or there is gas overflow from the artificial anus, and the food chosen should be easily digestible and nutritious, such as vegetable soup and rice soup. It is better to eat less and more meals, once every 2-3 hours, 6-7 meals per day. Avoid gas-producing foods such as milk and soy milk. After eating fluids, patients need to be closely observed for abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. If there is no gastrointestinal discomfort, semi-liquid food can be eaten the next day, choosing foods containing more protein and low fiber, such as noodles, thin rice, etc., which should also be eaten less and more often. Usually, soft food, such as rotten rice and steamed buns, etc., can be eaten in about a week, and after two weeks, easy-to-digest, less residual universal food can be eaten, and coarse grains and high-fiber vegetables, such as celery, leeks, beans, etc., are prohibited to reduce the intestinal burden. Try not to eat food with filling, such as dumplings, buns, leek boxes, etc., such food can easily lead to intestinal obstruction. Postoperative dietary guidance 1. Eat less or no food rich in saturated fatty acids and cholesterol. These include: lard, butter, chicken oil, mutton oil, fatty meat, animal offal, fish roe, squid, cuttlefish, egg yolk, and palm and coconut oil. 2, vegetable oil (peanut oil, soybean oil, sesame oil, canola oil, etc.) is limited to about 20-30 grams per person per day (about 2-3 tablespoons). 3.No or less fried food. 4, moderate consumption of foods containing monounsaturated fatty acids, such as olive oil, tuna, etc. 5.During the cooking process, avoid overheating animal food and vegetable oil. 6, daily supplementation of dietary fiber 30 grams or more. Eat more foods rich in dietary fiber, such as konjac, soybeans and soy products, algae, etc. 7, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to supplement carotene and vitamin C. 8, moderate consumption of walnuts, peanuts, dairy products, seafood, etc., to supplement vitamin E. 9, pay attention to the intake of malt, fish, mushrooms and other foods rich in trace elements selenium. 10.It is not necessary to over-emphasize the high nutrition diet (such as sea cucumber, etc.), but proper intake is possible. 11.If patients receiving intestinal anastomosis (not rerouted), pay attention not to eat the seeds of fruits to avoid the impact on the growth of anastomosis. Diet is an extremely elaborate aspect after colorectal cancer surgery, and the general principle is gradual and balanced diet. At the same time, we should pay attention to dietary hygiene, refrain from smoking and alcohol, and develop the good habit of regular bowel movement. Only in this way, it is most conducive to the postoperative recovery.
