The storage time of bagged Chinese medicine is closely related to the ambient temperature and the composition of the Chinese medicine. At this stage, herbal medicines are usually decocted at pharmacies or hospitals on behalf of the patients, and the decocted herbal medicines are usually stored in vacuum-sealed bags with expiration dates. Although the expiration date of each herbal medicine is not quite consistent, in general, the shelf life of herbal medicines usually does not exceed 7 days when the room temperature is higher than 25°C during the season of high ambient temperature. If the temperature is lower, the shelf life can be relatively longer, such as when placed in the refrigerator’s freezer and the temperature is adjusted to 0℃-5℃, the shelf life is usually 30 days, and it is recommended to try to take it within 7 days. If the ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine contain more starch, protein, sugar and other substances, they are usually more prone to deterioration and have a relatively short shelf life. During the process of bringing the herbal medicine home, try to avoid direct sunlight and put it in a cool and ventilated place after returning home to help prolong the preservation time of the herbal medicine.
