How can adolescents who cannot sleep alone be treated?

Patient: Unable to sleep alone, especially after listening to ghost stories. The mind feels very stressed and interferes with study. Inexplicable panic at night. Mother has done counseling several times, but after a period of time, the fear starts again. A: Adolescent children already have considerable cognitive ability and the ability to adapt independently. If the child is still unable to sleep independently at this age there is a real possibility that there is some psychological problem. In a general sense, children who often need to sleep with their parents may be very dependent; they may also be confused about their parents’ sex life, unable to understand their position in the family; or there may be problems in the parent-child relationship, such as too close and entangled with the mother, unable to separate; or the child is involved in the parents’ marital relationship in this particular way, the relationship between the parents feeling anxious. Since not much is known about the specific situation, it is not possible to make some kind of diagnosis categorically, but the child’s problems do serve as a signal to remind parents to face family or child problems, actively seek help and find appropriate ways to help the child and family solve their psychological problems. It is recommended to seek professional counseling or receive psychotherapy near you. The above comments and suggestions are for reference only.
