Chinese medicine treatment of anhidrosis

The hot summer climate, or sweating after exercise, is a normal physiological phenomenon. However, some people do not sweat in all seasons, even if it is intense exercise or the temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius or more, or after a “big surprise” there is no sweating feeling, what is the reason? It turns out that a little or no sweat on the skin surface can be caused by abnormalities in the sweat glands themselves or a level of abnormal neural pathways, the main causes of which are: 1, congenital sweat gland dysplasia or lack of sweat glands, which can be manifested as generalized or restricted sweating. 2, certain skin diseases, such as severe ichthyosis, scleroderma, leprosy, radiation dermatitis, skin atrophy, etc., can cause restricted anhidrosis. 3, nerve injury, such as transverse myelitis, pediatric paralysis, paraplegia, local injury to sympathetic nerve, medulla oblongata, pontine brain, can cause generalized or restricted anhidrosis. 4, certain visceral disorders, such as diabetes, uremia, chronic nephritis, mucinous edema, malignant tumors, etc. In addition, vitamin A deficiency, etc., can also cause generalized anhidrosis. In summer, people with generalized anhidrosis cannot regulate their body temperature and are prone to heatstroke. Sweating has other important roles besides heat distribution: 1. Sweat can maintain the physiological balance of water supply and evaporation and prevent the skin stratum corneum from drying out. 2, sweat has an acidifying effect on the skin surface, defending against microbial attack. 3. Sweat and sebum emulsify each other and form lipid films on the skin surface. In addition, it is also related to the metabolism of electrolytes, mucopolysaccharides, and hormones. Therefore, patients with anhidrosis should seek medical attention as soon as possible. A combination of treatments can be used to alleviate the patient’s suffering. Currently, anhidrosis is untreatable except in cases of congenital sweat gland dysplasia; if the anhidrosis is caused by other disorders, the primary disease should be actively treated. Those with extreme physical discomfort can be relocated to a low temperature area or artificially cooled, such as by installing air conditioning indoors. Chinese medicine also has its own unique approach to sweatlessness: 1.
