When should I start screening?

Early stage cervical cancer often has no obvious symptoms and signs, and early stage is mostly contact bleeding; middle and late stage is irregular vaginal bleeding. The amount of bleeding varies according to the size of the lesion and the invasion of interstitial blood vessels; if it invades large blood vessels, it may cause heavy bleeding. Most patients have vaginal discharge, which is white or bloody, thin like water or rice slop, or smells fishy. Depending on the extent of cancer involvement, different secondary symptoms may appear. If the carcinoma compresses or involves the ureter, it may cause ureteral obstruction, hydronephrosis and uremia; in advanced stage, there may be anemia, cachexia and other symptoms of systemic failure. Although the short-term effect is not as obvious as chemotherapy, the long-term effect is good, and it is effective in improving the quality of survival and prolonging the survival period. In addition, cervical cancer patients and their family members should learn more about the treatment of cervical cancer, communicate more with the attending physicians, and choose a good treatment method, which is the most critical factor to obtain a high-quality prognosis. Besides that, the cooperation of patients and family members, good lifestyle and diet, and optimistic attitude are all helpful to prolong the survival of cervical cancer patients.
