Impotence (erectile dysfunction, ED) is a condition in which the penis cannot get an erection, or an erection is not firm, or firm but not long, so that normal sexual intercourse cannot be completed, and is one of the most common conditions of male sexual dysfunction. According to foreign statistics, the incidence of male sexual dysfunction accounted for about 37% to 42%. According to domestic statistics, about 10% of adult men suffer from impotence, and the age of onset is mostly between 20 and 40 years old. There are functional and organic impotence. Functional impotence is mostly due to the strengthening of the inhibition of the higher centers of the cerebral cortex and the relative decrease of the excitability of the erectile center of the spinal cord, with common factors such as mental factors, such as spousal quarrels and mental tension. Organic impotence is commonly associated with sexual organ dysplasia, such as small, curved penis, cryptorchidism, testicular dysplasia, etc.; or sexual organ lesions, such as sexual organ trauma, surgery, hemangioma, etc.; or neurological lesions, such as spina bifida, central neuroma, etc.; or endocrine diseases, such as lesions of pituitary gland, adrenal gland, thyroid gland, etc.; or systemic chronic diseases, etc. In the past, functional impotence was the most common clinical condition, and organic lesions were less common. However, with the improvement of detection methods in recent years, the incidence of organic impotence has increased compared to the past.
