The treatment time of intestinal tuberculosis is similar to that of pulmonary tuberculosis, and most patients can be cured if they are detected at an early stage and receive standardized anti-tuberculosis treatment in a timely manner, follow the doctor’s instructions, and insist on taking the drugs regularly. In general, it takes 6-9 months of treatment, and some patients even need more than 1 year of treatment. At present, chemical drugs are preferred for the treatment of intestinal tuberculosis, and surgical treatment may be needed for the combination of intestinal bleeding, intestinal perforation and intestinal obstruction. Commonly used therapeutic drugs for intestinal tuberculosis include isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol, streptomycin and so on. The duration of the standard chemotherapy regimen for first-time patients is usually 6 months, divided into 2 phases, i.e., a 2-month intensive period and a 4-month consolidation period; the standardized regimen for retreatment patients is usually 8 months, which is also divided into 2 phases, i.e., a 3-month intensive period and a 5-month consolidation period, and the doctor can adjust the regimen according to the patient’s specific drug use in the course of the treatment. During the course of anti-tuberculosis treatment, patients need to review the blood routine, liver function, kidney function, blood uric acid, etc. every 1-2 weeks to observe the toxic side effects of the drugs, and review the barium meal fluoroscopy and enteroscopy every 1-2 months to determine the efficacy of the drugs. Early diagnosis and treatment, as well as rational selection of anti-tuberculosis drugs and ensuring adequate amount and course of treatment are the keys to determining the prognosis. When the lesion can be cured after early and timely treatment, the general prognosis is good and will not affect life expectancy; if accompanied by serious complications, the general prognosis is poor. Patients should also pay attention to small meals, eat more soft, easy to digest, nutritious food, mainly rice and noodles, moderate supplement protein, do not eat nuts, chili and other foods, quit smoking and alcohol.
