Symptoms of intestinal tuberculosis

Intestinal tuberculosis is a chronic and specific infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis invading the intestinal tract, which is not common in today’s society. The disease is most common in young adults and can occur in any part of the gastrointestinal tract, most often in the ileocecal region. Most of them have a slow onset and long course, and the early symptoms are not obvious and can be easily ignored. The main symptoms are: 1, abdominal pain: mostly located in the right lower abdomen, can also cause epigastric or periumbilical pain due to lesions in the ileocecal region, the nature of the pain is generally vague or involved pain, easily triggered or aggravated by eating, abdominal pain and defecation, the symptoms can be relieved after defecation. 2. Diarrhea and constipation: Diarrhea is one of the main manifestations of ulcerative intestinal tuberculosis. Defecation is 2-4 times a day, and the stool is paste-like or thin and watery. It does not contain mucus or pus and blood. If the rectum is not involved, there is no feeling of urgency, but if the lesion is severe diarrhea can be more than 10 times a day, and the stool can have mucus and pus. In addition, there can be intermittent constipation, stools in the form of sheep feces every other day and then diarrhea. This alternating diarrhea and constipation is due to gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by intestinal tuberculosis. Constipation is the main manifestation of proliferative intestinal tuberculosis. 3. Systemic symptoms and extra-intestinal TB manifestations: ulcerative intestinal TB often has clinical manifestations of tuberculosis toxemia and extra-intestinal TB, especially pulmonary TB, and may show vitamin deficiency, fatty liver, malnutrition edema and other manifestations. It can be manifested as prolonged fever of different fever types, accompanied by night sweats, patients with lethargy, emaciation, anemia, and malnutrition manifestations such as vitamin deficiency as the disease progresses. 4, abdominal mass: mainly seen in hyperplastic intestinal tuberculosis, when ulcerative intestinal tuberculosis combined with limited peritonitis, the lesion intestinal area can appear abdominal mass, the mass is often located in the right lower abdomen is generally fixed. There are proliferative and ulcerative types of intestinal tuberculosis, and their symptoms are different, and their treatment should be based on symptoms to improve the general condition and promote the healing of lesions. It is recommended to seek timely and standardized treatment.
