Does high anti-O mean rheumatism?

Many patients with elevated anti-“O” lab tests think rheumatism, and start the long road to medical care …. Is a high anti “O” rheumatism? The answer is: No! There is no necessary connection between high anti-O and rheumatism, not to mention rheumatoid! Then what is anti “O”? Anti “O” is anti-streptococcal hemolysin “O”, abbreviated ASO. hemolytic streptococci produce a metabolite that can lyse red blood cells, so this product is named “O” O” hemolysin exists in the body as an antigenic substance after human infection with group A hemolytic streptococci. In order to measure the amount of antibodies that neutralize streptococcal hemolysin “O”, it is called the anti-streptococcal hemolysin “O” test. The value detected by this test is what many patients see as anti-O. So, an elevated anti-O only indicates an infection with the bacteria mentioned above, which are the most common respiratory infections and are found in more than 90% of adults, so when does it make sense? Progressive increase in the value, or combined with ESR, CRP and other elevated clinical symptoms, such as fever, night sweats, fatigue, poor appetite, cough, cough sputum, panic, rash, hand trembling, joint pain, frequent urination, dark urine, etc., is meaningful, especially in children, and should be actively diagnosed and treated at this time. If only after the cold found anti “O” elevated, what discomfort is not necessary long-term application of antibiotic treatment, and do not think they have rheumatism, with some more toxic anti-rheumatic drugs, which will only bring greater damage to health!
