After a fracture, it is not possible to apply hot compresses immediately. Of course, hot compresses should not be applied for a period of time after the fracture, but they can be applied after the swelling and exudation of the fracture is stabilized, which is most suitable after 72 hours after the fracture. Cold compresses should be applied during the initial period after the fracture, because hot compresses can lead to increased tissue swelling and increased tissue exudation, thus increasing the swelling of the fracture end; ice compresses are good for avoiding this, allowing the swelling to be relieved and the exudation to be reduced, so that some small capillaries can stop bleeding. After the fracture surgery, the same division is made according to 72 hours, within 72 hours after the surgery, cold compresses should be done; after 72 hours, hot compresses can be done. Of course, cold light therapy or suitable microwave physiotherapy is better than hot compresses.
