Vertebral artery cervical spondylosis can compress or irritate the vertebral artery, resulting in narrowing of the vertebral artery, inadequate local blood supply, and neck stiffness, tightness of the scalp with nausea, vomiting and even syncope. If neck stiffness is present, care should be taken not to maintain the same position for long periods of time, but if symptoms persist, prompt treatment is required.
