The swelling of the foot can be healed in a few days

A broken foot can lead to swelling and pain, and if treated properly, the swelling can usually go down in 1-2 weeks. Broken feet are more common in clinical practice and mostly occur due to going down stairs, wearing high heels, walking on uneven roads or playing basketball or strenuous exercise, which can lead to local swelling and pain. Patients need to go to the hospital in time to determine whether there are fractures and ligament injuries. If there is no fracture and ligament injury, conservative treatment is sufficient. Cold compresses can be applied within 24 hours to reduce subcutaneous bleeding and relieve pain, hot compresses can be done after 24 hours and topical medications can be used. 3 days later, oral medications to promote local swelling can be taken to activate blood circulation and resolve blood stasis to promote local swelling to subside, usually 1-2 weeks to reduce swelling and 2-3 weeks to gradually recover. Patients should rest in bed during the treatment period, elevate the affected limb, and properly immobilize the affected limb. Perform muscle contraction and diastolic exercises of the lower limbs in bed and avoid strenuous exercise for 3 weeks.
