Blood HCG results are available as early as 7 days after intercourse and as late as three weeks. Pregnancy reaction mostly appears around 40 days after menopause. Symptoms may include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and greasiness. Early pregnancy reactions vary from person to person, some are mild and some are severe, requiring treatment such as hospitalization with fluids. Dizziness and menorrhagia may be symptoms of early pregnancy and need to be diagnosed with an early pregnancy test or blood HCG test combined with ultrasound. An elevated blood HCG and a gestational sac seen on ultrasound suggest early pregnancy. If the dizziness is severe and cannot be relieved by rest, a neurology consultation is also needed to measure blood pressure and check for abnormalities in blood sugar and lipids. Depending on the cause of the examination, symptomatic treatment will be given.
