How many times a day is it appropriate for malignant tumor patients to take herbal tonics? Generally, physicians will recommend to take herbal soup twice a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. As the most common method, twice a day is correct in principle. But is there a more appropriate way to take herbal medicine for tumor treatment? The answer is yes. One of the advances of modern TCM tumor treatment compared with traditional TCM tumor treatment is the bold introduction of experimental technology of modern medicine to verify the treatment concept by experimental means, so as to guide clinical practice. Take the method of taking Chinese medicine as an example, that is, some scholars applied experimental techniques to study the possible effects of different methods of taking Chinese medicine on the efficacy of tumor treatment. This research method used the colony residual method to study the effect of herbal compound aqueous decoction on human gastric cancer cell lines, and the results found that: ① The total dose of the same aqueous decoction, with the different number of contacts with cancer cells, can have a large difference in the effect on the formation of gastric cancer cell colonies. There was no significant difference between the total amount added once and the control group without the drug. There were significant differences between total amount added in two and four times and the control group, and total amount added in four times was significantly better than total amount added in two times. ②The formation of gastric cancer cell colonies would be significantly different with different drug concentration decoction. The increase of drug concentration is directly proportional to the killing power on gastric cancer cells. Experiments showed that when the drug concentration reached 500μg/ml, the ability of gastric cancer cells to form colonies was only 10% of that of the control group without the addition of drug. ③The longer the drug solution of the same concentration is in contact with cancer cells, the more it can inhibit the formation of gastric cancer cell colonies. In principle, it is not recommended to take the drug once a day or at intervals of more than one day to avoid affecting the clinical efficacy. ②For patients with clear tumor lesions or high-risk patients with tumor markers suggesting tumor activity as well as clinical recurrence and metastasis although no lesions are found, it is recommended to take the medicine four times a day. ③Stable patients with clear disappearance of tumor lesions after treatment and existing laboratory auxiliary examination means fail to detect signs of recurrence or metastasis can adopt the twice-a-day dosing method. ④Patients with nausea and vomiting are more difficult to take traditional Chinese medicine, so it is not necessary to stick to the number of times to take the medicine. Generally, the method of taking small amounts frequently can be adopted. As the symptoms of nausea and vomiting improve, the number of doses will be reduced accordingly.
