Treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a common disease in women of reproductive age, and many patients are overly nervous when they learn that they have the disease, as if they are terminally ill. Polycystic ovary syndrome is related to genetics and other factors, and some scholars classify it as a metabolic syndrome, which is commonly referred to as hypertension and diabetes. We should be more concerned about how to treat the disease, which can be broadly divided into two types of treatment, depending on whether or not we need to have children. If you have already had children or are not considering having children for the time being, you can use progesterone drugs such as progesterone (the cheapest and most commonly used), progesterone capsules, etc. to get your period, without the need for long-term use of birth control pills. Before using progesterone to get a period, it is necessary to test for pregnancy, because polycystic ovary syndrome is only an abnormal ovulation, not an absolute failure to ovulate. Therefore, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital and use the medication under the guidance of a doctor. Patients who want to have children: While you are concerned about your own condition, don’t forget about your husband. In our daily work, we find that many women with polycystic ovary syndrome have husbands with very bad semen, some of them even have no sperm. Some patients, after learning that the male partner’s semen is very poor, have uncontrollable tears in the consultation room, so you can imagine how much aggravation they have suffered. If both partners have fertility difficulties, the quickest and most effective way is to do IVF directly. If the male partner is normal, the female partner needs to check her fallopian tubes, and if they are not working, it is better to do IVF directly. If the male partner is normal and the female partner’s fallopian tubes are open, ovulation promotion treatment is recommended. According to the experience of JCRC, the most effective medication is Letrozole, followed by Clomiphene, both of which often need to be combined with HMG (urotropin). Ovulation treatment is not difficult, but not simple, and the cost is not high. Usually an ovulation treatment will not cost more than 1000 RMB in medication, most of them can be 200-500, and some even need only 100-200. If ovulation is normal after ovulation promotion, the chance of conception in each cycle is similar to the natural conception rate of normal couples, i.e. 15-20%. Generally, after 3-6 cycles of ovulation, if there is still no pregnancy, IVF can be considered. If the male partner’s semen is slightly poor or if both partners are unable to have intercourse according to the doctor’s instructions, artificial insemination is recommended. Whether or not they need to have children, polycystic patients should strengthen physical exercise, have a low salt and low fat healthy diet, work and rest normally, and often keep a relaxed and happy mood.
