Congenital corneal leukoplakia is due to abnormal development of the ectoderm and mesoderm during embryonic development of the eye and is not inherited. Acquired corneal leukoplakia is a serious complication of keratitis or corneal trauma, caused by a variety of acquired factors, and is also not inherited.
