Does corneal leukoplakia get worse?

Usually congenital corneal leukoplakia does not worsen. Acquired corneal leukoplakia is the scar tissue that heals after corneal injury, and the scar formation can lead to corneal nutrient disorders, corneal epithelial erosions that do not heal over time, and ulcers that form on the corneal scar, often without irritating symptoms, so they are also called “cold ulcers”. Since the local pathology is scar tissue and degenerates into atherosclerotic ulcer, it is also called atherosclerotic ulcer.
