The common symptoms of genital herpes can infect the following areas of the body: penis, scrotum, vulva, vagina, anus, urethra, thighs, buttocks. 2. There are small rashes and papule-like bumps on the skin. 3. Astringent urination, which in some women can be manifested by the discharge of vaginal fluid. 4. A cluster of large blisters containing fluid that rupture to produce a painful ulcer that crusts over and then heals on its own. This process may last for several days. 5. Flu-like symptoms, including fever and swollen lymph nodes in the groin, may also occur after the first infection. 6. Some people who carry genital herpes have no symptoms or are misdiagnosed with other conditions, such as: vaginal yeast infection, ringworm, insect bites, hemorrhoids, and inward hair growth. Herpes pain is often worst the first time it occurs and will decrease and be shorter in duration in later episodes. There is no specific pattern to the coming and going of symptoms. Some people may have an episode once a year, while others may have an episode once every few weeks. Before an attack, you may feel pain, itching, tingling and burning in the infected area, and you may also feel sharp pain in the pelvis or down the leg. Herpes simplex The herpes simplex virus is divided into two types: type 1 (HSV-1 or oral herpes) and type 2 (HSV-2 or genital herpes). HSV-1 causes mouth and lip ulcers (sometimes called “febrile herpes” or “cold sores”). HSV-1 can also cause genital herpes, but most genital herpes is caused by HSV-2. Patients with HSV-2 infection will have ulcers around the genitals and rectum. Although ulcers caused by HSV-2 may also occur in other areas, ulcers that occur below the waist are more common. In addition, the symptoms of HSV usually present as a single blister or numerous blisters around the infected area, often in the mouth, genitals, and rectum. The blisters rupture and leave a slight ulcer.
