Uterorectal fossa effusion usually refers to the presence of fluid found in the pelvic cavity, and usually includes physiologic causes as well as pathologic causes, which are recommended to be taken seriously in time. In most cases, the uterorectal fossa is free of fluid, and if fluid accumulation occurs, it is usually categorized into physiological causes and pathological causes. A small amount of fluid may accumulate in the uterorectal fossa around the time of ovulation or during menstruation due to changes in hormone levels, which is mostly normal. Uterorectal fossa fluid may also be caused by problems such as intra-abdominal hemorrhage and pelvic pus. Such pathologies are often accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal pain and bloating, and the patient is advised to seek medical attention and treatment promptly. If a patient develops an effusion in the uterorectal fossa, it is recommended that he or she consult a physician to determine the cause of the condition and to seek treatment or therapy.
