Eltrombopta is a drug mainly for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, which is not available in China, mainly for second-line treatment of ITP, and has been seen in Hong Kong, as well as by Watt’s Pharmacy. The drug is available in the United States and is said to be a thrombopoietin receptor agonist that promotes thrombopoietin and can be applied to patients who are not well treated with corticosteroids, immunoglobulins or splenectomy.
The starting dose is fifty milligrams administered orally once daily, but with severe or moderate hepatic insufficiency, the dose may be reduced to 25 milligrams administered once daily on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after a meal. To reduce the risk of bleeding, the dose may be adjusted to reach and maintain a platelet count greater than or equal to 50 x 109/liter at a dose of no more than 75 mg per day.
