How do pediatric neurosurgical congenital disorders look like?

With the modern advances in molecular biology, imaging and therapeutic techniques, the latest advances in the field of pediatric neurosurgery at home and abroad have provided a new understanding of the imaging features, pathophysiology, natural history, clinical manifestations, disease assessment, and treatment principles of pediatric neurosurgical congenital diseases, including surgical indications as well as surgical modalities, surgical points and complications, emphasizing disease prevention and early diagnosis in utero, and in the treatment of Evidence-based medicine is emphasized. In order to systematically improve the understanding of pediatric neurosurgical congenital diseases among neurosurgeons in various regions of China, the Sanbo Brain Hospital of Capital Medical University is scheduled to hold a study course on pediatric neurosurgical congenital diseases in March 2015. In view of the characteristics of congenital diseases and the achievements of modern medicine, this course emphasizes the genetic background and molecular biological and imaging features, pathophysiology, natural history, clinical manifestations, disease assessment, and introduces the principles of treatment, including the indications for surgery, as well as surgical methods, key points of surgery and complications. At the same time, through the process of diagnosis and treatment of typical cases, we will explain the special thinking method of clinical treatment process of congenital diseases —- prevention – treatment – rehabilitation, and summarize successful experience and failure lessons. This course aims to enable participants to understand the latest developments in this specialized field in China and abroad in a short period of time, and to master the basic viewpoints, treatment procedures and surgical techniques of problems related to congenital diseases in pediatric neurosurgery. Pediatric neurosurgery is one of the key subspecialties of Sanbo Brain Hospital, which completes 400 surgeries of various types (excluding cranio-cerebral injury in children) up to and including 14 years old every year, and has established a complete talent echelon and accumulated valuable clinical experience.
