How big does a thyroglossal cyst grow?

Thyroglossal cysts usually grow into round lumps with a diameter of 1-2cm. Different treatments are chosen according to whether the cysts are infected or not.
1. Cysts without infection: if the patient’s cyst is not infected, the cyst edge is clear, can move up and down with the tongue, and the lump has a sense of substance, the patient should go to the hospital in time for surgical resection, so as to avoid infection, which will cause serious consequences.
2. cyst infection: manifested as local pressure and pain, red and swollen, when broken will flow out purulent secretion, thus forming a sinus tract, seriously affecting the patient’s normal life and work, and at this time the cyst is easy to recur after treatment, even if the breakage occurs again and again.
Patients with thyroglossal cysts should go to the hospital for resection before the cyst becomes infected to prevent the infection from rupturing and forming a sinus tract, thus delaying the condition and causing big trouble.
