Can ultrasound detect acute pancreatitis?

Ultrasound can detect acute pancreatitis, which is an acute disease, mainly pain located in the upper abdomen, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, reduced bowel movements, yellow urine, etc. In severe cases, fever can occur, and the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis mainly depends on symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging examinations. Imaging examination relies on color ultrasound to find enlarged pancreas, edema and relatively obvious exudation, but if the abdominal distension is more obvious, the pancreas is located in the retroperitoneal organ during the color ultrasound examination, gastrointestinal distention will affect the results of the color ultrasound examination and the pancreas will not be displayed. The pancreatic gland can be examined by ultrasound in acute pancreatitis, but it can be examined according to the symptoms and blood amylase, and if necessary, the upper abdominal CT examination to observe whether the pancreatic gland has edema, exudation or necrosis.
