What are the symptoms of gastric ulcer

  Typical symptoms of gastric ulcer are epigastric pain, mostly located just below or to the left of the subxiphoid process, which can be dull, burning, distending, severe, or hunger-like discomfort in nature.  Typical features: 1. chronic process, which can last for several years or more than 10 years; 2. recurrent or periodic attacks, which can last for weeks or months, with seasonal attacks, typically occurring during seasonal changes, such as autumn and winter, and the onset of winter and spring; 3. some patients have rhythmic epigastric pain associated with meals, mostly postprandial; 4. abdominal pain can be relieved by acid suppressants or antacids.  Some cases only show indigestion symptoms such as epigastric distension, epigastric discomfort, anorexia, belching, and acid reflux. There is another category of asymptomatic ulcers, these patients have no abdominal pain or dyspeptic symptoms, but have complications such as gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation as the first symptoms, which can be seen at any age, and are more common in patients taking long-term NSAIDs and in the elderly.  When complications occur in gastric ulcer, corresponding symptoms will also appear.  (1) Bleeding: In mild cases, the symptoms are positive occult blood in the stool and black stool, while in severe cases, there is heavy bleeding, vomiting blood or dark red blood in the stool.  ②Perforation: ulceration into the abdominal cavity causes diffuse peritonitis; penetration into the surrounding substantial organs, such as liver, pancreas, spleen, etc., manifests as a change in the regularity of abdominal pain, which becomes persistent or persistent; ③Pyloric obstruction: manifests as epigastric distension and pain, which is aggravated after meals; abdominal pain can be slightly relieved after vomiting; vomit can be persistent food; severe vomiting can lead to water loss, hypochlorhydria, hypokalemic alkalosis; weight loss, malnutrition.  ④Cancer: Gastric ulcers with recurrent attacks and long duration of disease have high risk of cancer.  Therefore, there are more symptoms of gastric ulcer, and it is crucial to pay attention to them. For people with a history of ulcer, they must go to the hospital for formal examination to confirm the diagnosis when the above symptoms appear.
