What is epilepsy? What are the manifestations?

  Epilepsy is a chronic brain disorder caused by multiple etiologies and characterized by recurrent seizures. A diagnosis of epilepsy requires at least one seizure.  There are about 9 million people with epilepsy in China, which means that there are about 4-7 people with epilepsy for every 1000 people. Epilepsy can occur at any age.  You should be aware of the possibility of having a seizure if you have the following symptoms: 1. Eyes staring and not moving, unresponsive to external stimuli such as calls.  2. Blurred consciousness and non-responsive answers.  3. Twitching or shaking of the limbs.  4. Walking around aimlessly, not knowing where you are.  5.Unexplained fall.  6.Repetitive movements or lip smacking without purpose.  7.Twitching of the whole body.
