Can early diabetes be reversed at age 25

There is no such thing as “early diabetes”, there is no such thing as early or late diabetes. “Early diabetes at age 25” may refer to a person with diabetes that started at age 25, and may be reversible at age 25. Diabetes “reversal” is generally defined as having blood glucose that is on target or normal in the absence of glucose-lowering medications, i.e., diabetes remission. Strategies for reversing type 2 diabetes include prevention, weight loss, intensive glucose lowering, metabolic surgery, and pancreas or islet transplantation. The mechanism of reversal is to restore one’s adiposity threshold, relieve glycolipid toxicity, or improve gut hormones and gut flora so that dedifferentiated pancreatic β-cells regain their insulin-secreting ability. A 25-year-old patient diagnosed with diabetes should actively cooperate with his or her physician.
