Whether an esophageal tumor can be cured or not depends on various factors such as the nature of the tumor, the time of detection, the treatment means and the patient’s own condition. If it is benign esophageal tumor, it is usually curable; if it is malignant esophageal tumor, early detection and early treatment are usually possible to achieve clinical cure, but if it is found late, it is more difficult to be cured. Therefore, both benign and malignant tumors need to be treated actively and timely.1. Benign tumors: According to the current medical level, benign esophageal tumors can be cured in most patients if they are detected in early stage of the disease, and if the lesions are less involved and the symptoms are mild, they can be removed through surgery as early as possible and with professional and active treatment. If not actively treated, the lesion involvement will increase and may develop into malignant tumor, and the prognosis is relatively poor; 2. Malignant tumor: such as malignant esophageal tumor involving esophageal squamous epithelium and columnar epithelium, mainly treated by surgery, after surgery can be combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or targeted therapy. Clinical data show that the survival rate of early esophageal cancer can reach 90% in 5 years and 60% in 10 years after surgical treatment with the combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. However, if esophageal cancer is found late or not treated actively, and the disease continues to worsen and develops into middle and late stage esophageal cancer, the prognosis is worse and the survival time will be shortened.
