Rheumatic patients are most afraid of winter, and a little carelessness may lead to recurrence or aggravation of the disease. As a doctor of rheumatology, I would like to remind these patients that they must pay attention to the triggers of rheumatism aggravation in winter and adjust their living conditions. Generally speaking, the causes of rheumatism recurrence are concentrated in four areas. The cold winter makes it easy to have infections in the respiratory and urinary tracts, which can trigger or aggravate rheumatism; the cold may aggravate the abnormalities of vasodilatory function around the joints, which in turn aggravates arthritis symptoms; some people like to eat hot pot or seafood in winter, which increases the chances of triggering gout; the reduction of exercise reduces the body’s resistance, and rheumatism can take advantage of the situation. How to prevent the disease from recurring in the cold winter? Simply put, it is to do the following “three taboos”. 1, avoid the cold. The most obvious feature of rheumatism is that the pain is aggravated by cold, so patients should pay attention to the whole body and joint parts of the winter to keep warm, especially the local lesions to strengthen the protection. 2, avoid moisture. Humid environment and damp skin will increase the body heat emission, so that the limb temperature drops, resulting in joint pain, so rheumatism patients in winter should pay attention to keep the skin dry, clothing and bedding to often sun. 3, avoid laziness. Laziness, sedentary rheumatism is very unfavorable, because exercise can promote blood circulation in the limbs, so that blood circulation in the diseased parts can be improved and reduce joint pain symptoms. Patients can do a moderate amount of outdoor exercise, such as half an hour after meals out for a walk, but not excessive exercise.
