CT or MRI for fractures

Whether to take CT or MRI for a fracture must be determined by the specific fracture and whether there is a combination of other tissue damage. If the fracture is a simple limb fracture or a thoracic fracture, a CT will be fine. To clarify the overall alignment of the fracture end, a CT 3D scan followed by 3D bone reconstruction can also be used to reconstruct the entire bone in three dimensions, which is helpful for specialists to determine the alignment of the surgery or fracture. If there is a high suspicion of damage to the surrounding blood vessels or nerves after the fracture, or if the spinal fracture is suspected to have damaged the spinal nerves, an MRI must be taken to see the damage to the blood vessels and nerves.
