What is the cause of the redness and swelling of the foreskin?

Many children’s foreskin will inexplicably be red and swollen, and some will even secrete some purulent discharge, the family is very anxious, so what is the cause? In fact, it is pediatric circumcision or prepuce is the root cause of foreskin redness and swelling. Many families do not understand, most male children are born like this, is not this normal? How did it become sick? The circumcision: refers to the narrow opening of the foreskin, can not be turned up to reveal the head of the penis. It can cause varying degrees of difficulty in urination, slow and small urine flow, and foreskin puffing up when urinating. The foreskin cannot be turned up for cleaning, and the prepuce accumulates in the foreskin sac, which can be discharged from the foreskin mouth or remain in the coronal groove of the penis head in small pieces. The foreskin penis head inflammation when the foreskin mouth red and swollen, there is a purulent discharge. Excessively long foreskin: is the foreskin covers the urethral opening, but can be turned up to reveal the urethral opening and the head of the penis, often accompanied by a prepuce. However, many of them cannot be fully exposed, and some of the adherent foreskin will still retain foreskin scale, which can also cause foreskin inflammation for a long time, resulting in redness and swelling of the foreskin. It is recommended that if the family finds the child’s foreskin redness and swelling to the hospital as soon as possible, after the redness and swelling subsides, usually pay attention to local cleanliness and hygiene, such as repeated redness and swelling, if necessary, surgical treatment. The prepuce is divided into congenital prepuce and acquired prepuce. If the mild epithelial adhesion between the inner plate of the foreskin and the surface of the head of the penis is absorbed, the foreskin will recede and the head of the penis will be exposed. If the adhesions are not absorbed, congenital prepuce is formed. Acquired prepuce is mostly secondary to inflammation of the foreskin of the head of the penis, which causes scar contracture of the foreskin opening. If the prepuce is serious, it can cause difficulty in urination or even urinary retention. When the foreskin scale accumulates, there can be itching sensation on the head of the penis. Long-term chronic stimulation can induce infection and cancer, leukoplakia and stones. At present, circumcision is a relatively simple operation, which takes only 5 minutes. At present, most hospitals perform circumcision in two ways: for younger children, day surgery is performed, and they can be discharged after 24 hours of hospitalization. For older children, outpatient surgery is possible and they can go home for care after the surgery. There is no need to remove stitches and the procedure heals on its own.
