Pancreatitis is a common surgical emergency. The first enzyme to rise during the onset of pancreatitis is serum amylase, which starts to rise within a few hours of onset and reaches its peak at 24 hours, and then gradually drops to normal after 5 days. Urinary amylase can rise only in 24 hours and reach its peak value in 48 hours, and it decreases slowly compared with serum amylase, and it takes about 2 weeks to gradually return to normal. If this enzyme is 3-5 times higher than normal or even 10 times higher than normal, the possibility of pancreatitis should be considered first when other diseases are ruled out, and CT ultrasound of the pancreas or even enhanced CT of the pancreas should be done to help further diagnosis.
