Calcium tablets are useful for fractures because fractures grow and heal by the bone scab that holds the two broken ends together. The main component of the scab is calcium, and then phosphorus and collagen fibers. Where does calcium come from, it comes from food. After a fracture occurs, the body needs more calcium, and food alone is usually not enough to meet the needs of the bone scab growth, so additional calcium supplements are needed, i.e., calcium tablets. By taking calcium supplements, such as calcium carbonate, more calcium particles can enter the body, and the calcium ions can enter the blood circulation and be transported to the fracture site through the blood to produce a new bone scab that will join the fracture ends together and achieve clinical healing of the fracture.
