How to solve the fear of myopia surgery?

After 30 years of development, laser myopia surgery has become the most mature and popular form of myopia surgery, allowing more than 20 million people worldwide to stop relying on frames and contact lenses. It has revolutionized the way people live their lives. Although everyone wants to get rid of their dependence on glasses, many people’s fear of myopia surgery keeps them from trying. According to a patient survey, the fear of a failed outcome is the main reason for most myopia patients’ fear, followed by possible side effects after surgery, and fear of any surgery itself. Reasons for fear of myopia surgery A U.S. study that included nurses, dentists and psychologists who interacted with surgeons as patients concluded that the biggest reason people are fearful of myopia surgery is because they have little knowledge of the procedure itself, and experts believe that patients cannot feel confident when they do not have a complete understanding of the entire procedure. So for myopic patients, good communication and sharing the full details of the procedure is the best way to remove worry and fear. It is the surgeon’s responsibility to remove the patient’s worries and fears. The surgeon communicates with the patient in detail, listens carefully to each patient’s questions, and talks to each patient differently depending on the patient’s level of knowledge about the procedure. If possible, it may be a good idea to talk to other patients who have undergone surgery and to give the patient good psychological comfort before the surgery, and sometimes it may be best to let the patient observe other patients. Communication is the best way to relieve stress. It is the doctor’s duty to give the patient a thorough and careful explanation of the entire procedure, and the patient should not hesitate to ask all the questions of concern and worry.
