Is a first grade vision of 4.8 considered nearsighted?

First grade children are almost 6-7 years old. Under normal circumstances, the normal naked eye vision of children in this age group should be maintained at least at 4.8. If it is 4.8, it already indicates a mild decrease in vision, which may be a manifestation of myopia, but this conclusion can only be clarified after a detailed examination. If a child has a decrease in bare eye vision, the first step is to go to a regular hospital for an optometric examination, which must be done under dilated pupils to truly reflect the child’s refractive state. If the child is determined to have myopia after the optometric examination, he or she must maintain proper eye habits in order to prevent further increase in prescription.
