There are many misconceptions, rumors and unsubstantiated theories about the risk of breast cancer. Here are 5 factors that are of concern to many women and have been proven to have no relationship with the development of breast cancer. Bras There is no scientific basis for the claim that bras can block lymphatic circulation and thus cause breast cancer. Coffee Some researchers have speculated that caffeine may be a risk factor for breast cancer because it has been reported that women with benign breast lesions have reduced symptoms on a decaffeinated diet, but numerous studies have shown that drinking coffee or tea does not increase the risk of breast cancer in any way. Do large breasts increase the risk of breast cancer? The answer is “no”. The risk of breast cancer is the same for large breasts as it is for small breasts. There is no increased risk of breast cancer because of large breasts. Breast Implants Several studies have shown that breast implants are not associated with breast cancer risk. Saline-filled implants are more common, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has restricted the use of silicon-filled implants because of health concerns. Antiperspirants Some say that underarm antiperspirant use interferes with lymphatic circulation and increases toxins in the breast, which can cause breast cancer, but several rigorous studies have not found a link between antiperspirants and breast cancer.
