How long can an 84-year-old man with swollen feet live?

The survival time of elderly patients with swollen feet at the age of 84 varies widely. If the condition is mild and treated properly, it usually does not affect the patient’s life expectancy; if the condition is severe or improperly treated, it can lead to death in a short period of time. There are many causes of swollen feet in the elderly, such as heart failure, renal insufficiency, hypoproteinemia, lower limb vein embolism and other diseases that can lead to swelling of the lower limbs and feet. Due to the different causes and severity of the disease, the life expectancy of the patient varies. If the swelling of the feet is caused by mild heart failure, the patient’s life expectancy is not affected after giving cardiac and diuretic treatment; if the swelling of the feet is caused by severe heart failure, uremia, malignancy and other diseases, the patient’s survival time is shorter and may die within months or days. In addition, elderly people with swollen feet can be treated by elevating both feet and applying hot compresses with hot towels or hot water bags to promote blood circulation.
