The symptom of a heavy feeling in the vulva is caused by smooth muscle tumors of the vulva or inflammation of the vagina, prolapse of the vaginal wall, or pressure symptoms from pelvic inflammatory disease that cause the vulva to drop. This symptom is called vulvovaginal cramping. The causes of vulvar cramping are vulvar smooth muscle tumors or vaginal inflammation. The diagnosis is made by the patient’s self-perceived symptoms. 1. Non-specific vaginitis is diagnosed by taking a smear of the discharge and microscopic examination with Gram stain, which reveals common pathogenic bacteria without the presence of mycobacteria or trichomonas. It is a misconception to disinfect the vagina and use anti-inflammatory drugs because these drugs kill the pathogenic bacteria as well as the normal vaginal flora which is self-cleaning, so only temporary relief can be achieved, but due to the loss of protection of the normal flora, a new round of infection will soon appear, leading to recurrence. Therefore, it is scientific to refuse the use of topical anti-inflammatory drugs for vaginitis.
