How long is the conservative bed rest for lumbar spine fracture

Conservative treatment of lumbar spine fractures requires at least two months of bed rest. Lumbar spine fractures are usually caused by a fall from a height or a severe injury to the lumbar region, with lumbar compression fractures, as well as fractures of the lumbar vertebral body and the possible presence of combined pedicle or lamina fractures. Minor compression fractures can be treated conservatively, i.e., bed rest is chosen, the bed should be a hard board bed, lying in bed for two months, avoiding bed activities during this period, and turning over in bed with a flat axis. If painful, you can follow the doctor’s prescription to take oral medication for blood circulation and pain relief to promote fracture healing, and you can also take oral calcium tablets, because prolonged bed rest may cause osteoporosis, and calcium tablets can increase bone density, which is beneficial to fracture healing. If the fracture heals well, you can wear a lumbar brace to move around. If the fracture heals well, you can wear a lumbar brace and move to the ground. When you start walking, you should move slowly and for a short period of time, and gradually increase the amount of activity, so that you can recover to a normal state in about one month. In addition, patients should not go to the ground prematurely after a lumbar fracture, as there is a possibility of fracture displacement or fracture non-healing if they go to the ground too early.
