Spinal cord injury recovery takes years

Recovery time from spinal cord injury varies from person to person and is related to the severity of the injury, the treatment measures taken, etc., and cannot be generalized. Spinal cord injury is the most serious complication of spinal injury and is commonly associated with traffic accidents, falls from height, violent trauma, and sports injuries. If a patient has a mild spinal cord injury, such as a spinal cord concussion, sensory and motor functions are basically normal, and neurological functions can be restored through 1-2 weeks of drug treatment. If the patient has a severe spinal cord injury with impaired limb movement, recovery will take 3-6 months through medication and rehabilitation exercises. If the spinal cord injury is complete, especially if the anatomical integrity of the spinal cord is damaged, the recovery time of spinal cord function is relatively long, and it may be difficult to fully recover after several years, requiring a long period of rehabilitation or medication. The golden recovery period of spinal cord injury is 3 months after the injury, so timely and active cooperation with treatment within 3 months after the injury will help early recovery.
