How long to take medication after aortic dissection stent surgery

Antihypertensive medication is usually taken after aortic coarctation stenting and usually needs to be taken on a long-term basis as prescribed by your doctor. Aortic coarctation is an aggressive condition in which blood enters the middle layer of the aorta due to damage to the inner lining of the aorta to form a hematoma, which can be painful and tear-like. Aortic coarctation can be treated with surgical implantation of a coated stent in the aortic cavity to cover the entrance of the coarctation. After aortic coarctation stenting, anticoagulant drugs (e.g., aspirin) are needed; drugs to lower blood pressure (e.g., esmolol) are taken to control blood pressure to avoid re-injury to the vessel wall causing a recurrence of the condition, and lipid-lowering drugs (e.g., atorvastatin) should be taken on a long-term basis if accompanied by high blood lipids, to prevent damage to the blood vessels. After aortic coarctation stent surgery, relevant medications should be taken under the guidance of the doctor to avoid affecting the condition. In addition, the drugs mentioned above should also be used under doctor’s supervision.
