  Precautions for patients with TMJ disorder: 1. Avoid chewing gum, biting fingernails, clenching and grinding teeth; 2. Avoid eating nutty or too hard food and chewing unilaterally; 3. Yawn with your tongue against your palate and avoid opening your mouth wide; 4. Avoid sleeping on your stomach; 5. Don’t hold your chin with your hand while resting; 6. Keep a positive and optimistic attitude.
