How long does it usually take to treat bronchopneumonia in babies

The length of the treatment period for bronchopneumonia in babies depends on the type of pneumonia, its severity and the baby’s physical condition. Pediatric bronchopneumonia, also known as lobar pneumonia, is a common infectious disease in children, especially infants. The most common causative agents are bacteria, viruses or mycobacteria and Mycoplasma pneumoniae, etc. It can also be a mixed infection caused by viruses and bacteria. In general, after active treatment of common pneumonia, most babies will gradually heal in 7-14 days. In the case of Staphylococcus aureus or mycoplasma infections, the course of treatment is about 10-14 days. If the baby has bronchopneumonia along with other underlying diseases, such as new congenital heart disease, malnutrition or immune system hypofunction, the treatment course for bronchopneumonia will take longer compared to other babies if other corresponding complications or underlying diseases are treated aggressively on top of the treatment course. Therefore, the length of the treatment period for bronchopneumonia in babies depends on the type and severity of the pneumonia and the baby’s physical condition. In addition, if your baby develops fever, persistent cough, wheezing, shortness of breath and other respiratory symptoms such as increased respiration, you should promptly take your child to the pediatric department for blood tests, C-reactive protein, etiology and chest imaging to identify the cause and provide timely treatment.
