Can you get a flu shot with a runny nose?

Flu vaccination is generally not recommended when you have a runny nose because the body’s resistance is relatively weak, and you can wait until you are healthy before getting the vaccine. Most influenza vaccines are live attenuated vaccines and should be administered in a completely healthy state. This is because after vaccination the patient will experience normal immune reactions such as fever. A runny nose may be a symptom of a cold, and when the immunity is low, it is not easy to stimulate the body to produce sufficient antibodies, which will affect the vaccination effect and may even further aggravate the patient’s condition. Therefore, it is recommended that patients be vaccinated a week after their runny nose disappears, so that the preventive effect of the flu vaccine can be better utilized. Patients with runny nose can usually drink more water, consume fresh vegetables and fruits in appropriate amounts, and pay attention to keeping warm in order to recover as soon as possible. If their symptoms worsen, they can also go to the internal medicine department for treatment under the guidance of doctors.
